The Magic Pop-Up Shop
The Magic Pop-Up Shop is a heartwarming tale of three strangers who encounter a mysterious pop-up store run by a child who seemingly knows what each customer truly needs in order to seek happiness in life. Regardless of their age or past experiences, it is never too late for them to realize what makes their lives meaningful. It is a story for readers of all ages that teaches lessons of empathy, patience, and
inner healing. I wrote this story as a reminder to take a moment and observe the beauty in even the most mundane moments of life. In our fast-paced society, it is especially easy to lose track of the things we find genuine meaning in, such as spending time with family, visiting friends, or setting aside time for oneself. Although everyone is walking diligently towards their destination, let's not forget that life–
in all of its ups and downs–is a symphony of sublimity that is truly worth experiencing.

the process
The first ideas of The Magic Pop-Up Shop came into my mind during the summer of 2020, when I thought of a little coastal town and drew a sample magic shop. From then, I imagined the character of the storekeeper, which is an allusion to Antoine de Saint-Exúpery's little prince in The Little Prince, which was also a significant inspiration for this book. I spent my summer of 2022 planning, writing, and illustrating the book on Procreate until I self-published it through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

magic shop drafts (so many...)

After sampling countless storefront designs, I finally decided on a more natural, cottage-looking structure covered in a blanket of wildflowers and greenery. Even though the shop had just appeared, the lush vegetation gives the impression that it has been there for ages, which is counterintuitive to the nature of a 'pop-up shop.' This serves to emphasize that the Magic Pop-Up Shop is unlike any other store.
